Mitch Mitchell Bio

Micth Mitchell was born on July 9th, 1947 in England. He is mot commonly known for his involvement in the Jimmy Hendrix Experience. Mitch Mitchell came from a jazz background, playing drums at an early stage of his life. He is one of the most influential drummers of the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. Mitch is a huge legend in the drumming scene, being the pioneer founder of Fusion drumming. A lot of this was done with Jimmy Hendrix; however he has played for many other bands. His mix of jazz and rock created a new style of music unheard of at his time. Fusion rock became very popular because of this man.

After the death of Jimmy Hendrix, Mitchell went on to record with many other artists. His band he drummed for was Ramatam, which opened for Emerson, Lake & Palmer. In late 1999, Mitchell appeared on a Bruce Cameron album. Michell is definitely a powerful force in the drumming community. Mitch played a Premier drum set or the majority of his drumming career. His small tom was very unique, being the shape of a tuna can, wide and very thin, 14X8.  For cymbals he endorsed Zildjian, playing a 2 crashes a ride and hi hats.
